March 16, 2008 - Cody native Shane Anderson, who first learned to point skis downhill at the soon-to-reopen Sleeping Giant Ski Area, brought home ski honors last month from the National Telemark Championships in Tamarack, Idaho. They are telemark skiing the latest snowsport taking over Montana slopes and the backcountry. Telemark is a type of turn, where one ski is in front of the other, and the heel is raised on the rear ski with the skier bent at the knee, according to Todd Frank, owner of the Missoula gear store Trail Head.  read more
