January 24, 2004 - Rapid City Journal, SD - LEAD
? More than 120 visually impaired and disabled people need more
volunteers to help them ski and socialize at the 25th annual Ski for
Light in Lead and Deadwood next week. Skiing ? downhill and cross
country ? is based at Deer Mountain Ski Area.

Mountain to maintain 'snow skate only park'
October 24, 2003 - Black Hills Pioneer, SD - LEAD - As the current boom in
snow skating grows, Deer Mountain Ski Area is getting in on the action.
Deer Mountain Ski Area will maintain a 'snow skate only' park in its
base area, sponsored by Mike Walker, owner of Croc's Up & Over. The
park is a series of boxes, rails, and tracks which riders slide across
and balance on while executing tricks. Admission to the park is just
$5.00 and snow skate rental is also $5.00. Snow skates are
skateboard-like decks with a hard plastic base that slides directly on
the snow.
