July 29, 2004 - Salem Statesman Journal, OR - It is
July, and the mercury is climbing toward 98 degrees in the Willamette
Valley as a retired ski coach stands at the top of a ski lift with one
of his long-ago skiing stars, cool as a cucumber at 71 degrees, in utter
amazement of what stretches out before his eyes. ?Oh my, it?s just
outrageously beautiful,? said Roger Gildersleeve, for 35 years an
Oregon resident and a frequent winter visitor to Willamette Pass Ski
Area. ?But this is the first time I?ve been up here in the summer,

Marten Express busy at Mount Bachelor
July 23, 2004 - The Register-Guard, Oregon - Willamette Pass isn't the
only ski area in the central Cascade Mountains to operate one of its
lifts during the summer months. Mount Bachelor runs its Pine Marten
Express, which goes from the base area to "mid-mountain" at
about 7,500-feet elevation. However, the Bend-based ski area does not
allow mountain bikes on its lift.
