ESPN's Winter X Games to stay in Aspen
January 22, 2009 - ESPN's Winter X Games is staying in Aspen until 2012, the longest stint in one city in X Games history. Like its summer version, Winter X originally rotated on a regular basis. The inaugural event was held in Snow Summit Mountain Resort, Calif. (1997), then it moved to Crested Butte, Colo., for two years (1998-1999) before moving east to Mount Snow, Vt. (2000-2001).

Changing ski conditions
January 15, 2009 - Tell that toe where to go, Kathy Campbell shouted as a group of 5- and 6-year-olds took turns snowplowing at Snow Summit Resort Jan. 5. The former Big Bear Valley Recreation and Park District director still pitches in to help local youngsters hit the slopes through the park district's Learn to Ski program, which continues through Feb. 15.

White Pass among areas open for skiing today
January 10, 2009 - White Pass Ski Resort will reopen today and be fully operational from 8:45 a.m. to 9 p.m. The resort posted on its web site that it will be open Sunday from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. It has 80 inches of snow on the base and 110 inches at the summit.
