Slope
owners anticipate cold, snowy and profitable ski season
November 08, 2003 - MSNBC - Nov. 10 ?
Double the snow, double the fun. At least for the region's ski resorts
and related businesses. There were 105 inches of snow last winter, more
than double the 48 inches in the 2001 season, and that translates to
high hopes for the upcoming winter. A good snowy winter creates or
rekindles people's commitment to skiing and snow sports, ands encourages
them to upgrade equipment, buy season passes and get out on the slopes
as early as possible, said Jason Stratton, group sales director for
Windham Mountain, in Windham, Greene County. "We love it when
Mother Nature gives us a winter like last year," he said.
Pre-season ticket sales are up at Windham and other regional ski
resorts, and ski equipment and apparel retailers are taking advantage of
the early interest by offering sales.
