January 26, 2008 - WILMINGTON, N.Y. - Jim Hoyt slid to a stop on the new-fallen snow and looked skyward at the icy face of his favorite place. "It's the love of my life," said the 70-year-old Hoyt, a member of the ski patrol at Whiteface Mountain Ski Center for longer than he cares to remember.

Veteran Roark wins Lake Placid moguls contest
January 21, 2008 - LAKE PLACID, N.Y. Michelle Roark won the women's World Cup moguls event Sunday at the Nature Valley Freestyle Cup, leading four teammates into the top eight. Rookie Pat Deneen picked off his second podium in 48 hours, finishing third in the men's contest at snowy Whiteface Mountain.

Leaders Win Mogul Races
January 19, 2004 - The Ledger, FL - World Cup leaders Janne Lahtela of
Finland and Jennifer Heil of Canada won moguls contests Saturday at
Whiteface Mountain. Lahtela, the 2002 Olympic champion, received 26.29
points for his final run for his third win this winter. Luke Westerlund
of Breckenridge, Colo., was second with 26.10 points.

ski lodge plans threaten rare birds
January 19, 2004 - The Saratogian, NY - LAKE PLACID -- Plans for a new ski
lodge atop Little Whiteface have sparked concerns about the project's
impact on a rare species of bird. The proposed structure is one of
several projects included in the Olympic Regional Development
Authority's latest five-year plan for Whiteface Mountain.
