January 08, 2004 - Capital News 9, NY - On Monday, Mark Carruthers of
Queensbury was killed while skiing the slopes at West Mountain.
Carruthers fell and hit his head on an icy trail. The Warren County
Sheriff's Office said he was not wearing a helmet. West Mountain General
Manager Mike Barbone said, "It was pretty tough here, we never
expected a tragedy at West Mountain." Just last week, a skier at
Whiteface Mountain was also killed when he struck a tree.

January 07, 2004 - Newsday - QUEENSBURY, N.Y. -- A 44-year-old skier was killed
when he fell on an intermediate trail, according to the Warren County
sheriff's office. Mark Carruthers, of Queensbury, was supervising his
son's school trip to West Mountain, when he fell late Monday afternoon
and hit his head, deputies said.

dies in accident at local mountain
January 06, 2004 - Capital News 9, NY - A skier has died in an accident at
the West Mountain Ski Area in Glens Falls. Today's Post Star reported
that a man died in a skiing accident Monday afternoon. Warren County
authorities said they didn't find out about his death until the victim
was taken to Glens Falls Hospital. They haven't released his identity
yet.
