development issues meet at the summit
July 06, 2004 - Poughkeepsie Journal, NY - A couple dozen hikers, hailing
from Oneonta to Paramus, climbed 3,375-foot Belleayre Mountain in
Western Ulster County Monday to soak in the Catskill peak's scenic
grandeur and register their displeasure with a proposal to build resorts
there. Organized by the group Save Catskill Rivers and Mountains, the
hikers were surprised at the top by more than 30 people with ''Coalition
for Belleayre Mountain'' emblazoned on their T-shirts. They, too, wanted
their message heard: Whether the resorts are built or not, the state ski
slopes on Belleayre should be expanded and upgraded.

dies in accident at Belleayre
January 19, 2004 - Kingston Daily Freeman, NY - HIGHMOUNT - A Long Island
teenager died Sunday afternoon after she crashed into trees at the
bottom of a trail at Belleayre Mountain Ski Center. State police at
Ulster said Nicole M. Biondo, 17, of Hauppauge, was skiing at about 3
p.m. on Belleayre Run Trail, a trail for skiers with intermediate-level
skills, and was unable to stop at the end of the trail.
