Lessons learned by non-fatal avalanche in Jackson Hole
January 22, 2006 - JACKSON HOLE, Wyo. - Unlike in the city newspapers, sometimes "everybody survived" stories make the big headlines in ski town newspapers. Such was the case in Jackson Hole after an avalanche near Teton Pass left a backcountry skier buried up to his neck.  read more

Forest says skiers misinformed about plan
October 15, 2004 - Jackson Hole Local, WY - Bridger-Teton National Forest officials dismissed comments opposing commercial guiding by the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort on Teton Pass as misinformed. The Bridger-Teton received 58 comments on proposed changes to the resort?s backcountry guiding permit ? the bulk of which opposed commercial guiding on Teton Pass. But forest officials said most of the comments were "misrepresentations of the facts" and "misperceptions of the effects." The reasoning was articulated in documents released with the decision to change the Mountain Resort permit, mostly in a 14-page "response to comments" paper.  read more

Teton plans to expand
February 05, 2004 - Great Falls Tribune, MT - A three-year-old plan to expand skiing opportunities at Teton Pass Ski Area may get off the drawing board and out onto the ski hill this year. First phase would develop a temporary surface lift and four new ski runs for intermediate to advanced skiers in the No-Name Peak area. But will skiers see that new lift next year? "That's stretching it," cautions Teton board member John Stoltz. "We finish this game (the ski year) before we go into the next one."  read more

December 16, 2003 - IdahoStatesman.com, ID - VICTOR ? The Wyoming Department of Transportation is ready to begin using two remote controlled bomb-throwing devices to help reduce the threat of avalanches on the highway that links eastern Idaho with Jackson Hole.
