Whitefish Skiing Closes, But Blacktail Still Turns Lifts
April 07, 2008 - Hold off on the ritual burning of your Whitefish Mountain Resort season pass. While the resort shut its lifts down for the season yesterday, skiers still can ski at Blacktail Mountain where the Whitefish season pass is good for a discount. An Epic Trip, Close to Home
March 16, 2008 - Nine skiers veered off the trail at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area on a recent Saturday, and did not come back to the resort. They werent lost; they went out of bounds to descend the roughly 3,600 feet, over 15 miles, from the summit of Blacktail Mountain to the gates of Herron Park in Kalispell.  read more

Blacktail Mountain now open full time
December 17, 2003 - Daily Inter Lake, MT - Blacktail Mountain begins its full-time holiday schedule today. Starting today, the ski area above Lakeside will be open every day through Jan. 4. All ski runs are now open and the mountain has 46 inches of snow. More snow was expected Tuesday night and today. "If the weather holds, we've got enough snow to make it through the winter," spokesman Doug Strawn said. Blacktail has been open since Nov. 28.  read more
