Ski Butternut area invests in four-person chair lift
September 24, 2004 - Berkshire Eagle, MA - GREAT BARRINGTON -- Ski Butternut will have a new four-person chair lift online in time for the upcoming season. The quad lift, which accesses the Main Street slope of the mountain, is in the process of being installed, said Matthew Sawyer, Butternut marketing director. It is the first aerial lift installed at the ski area since 1993. The new equipment is replacing a 30-year-old, two-seater that was located in the same place.  read more

Ski patrollers credited with saving a life
February 03, 2004 - Berkshire Eagle, MA - GREAT BARRINGTON -- A quick-acting team of volunteer ski patrollers resuscitated a man whose heart stopped early Saturday morning as he walked into the lodge at Ski Butternut. The ski patrol team, led by senior patroller Pat Garber of Norwalk, Conn., used a defibrillator to shock the man's heart, restoring normal rhythm within moments of his collapse.  read more
