Butternut area invests in four-person chair lift
September 24, 2004 - Berkshire Eagle, MA - GREAT BARRINGTON -- Ski Butternut will
have a new four-person chair lift online in time for the upcoming
season. The quad lift, which accesses the Main Street slope of the
mountain, is in the process of being installed, said Matthew Sawyer,
Butternut marketing director. It is the first aerial lift installed at
the ski area since 1993. The new equipment is replacing a 30-year-old,
two-seater that was located in the same place.

patrollers credited with saving a life
February 03, 2004 - Berkshire Eagle, MA - GREAT BARRINGTON -- A quick-acting
team of volunteer ski patrollers resuscitated a man whose heart stopped
early Saturday morning as he walked into the lodge at Ski Butternut. The
ski patrol team, led by senior patroller Pat Garber of Norwalk, Conn.,
used a defibrillator to shock the man's heart, restoring normal rhythm
within moments of his collapse.

trail expansions and eventual condominium development are cited in Ski
Butternut's application for state approval to double the amount of water
now drawn from the Housatonic watershed for snowmaking and other on-site
water use.

apparent money-losing weekend at Ski Butternut last month, Berkshire
Mountain Music Festival's organizers have left unpaid at least $40,000
in bills owed to area motels and other businesses.
