April 18, 2008 - Guided backcountry skiing at Soldier Mountain Ski Area north of Fairfield is ongoing, and the 1,500-acre motorized closure west of the ski area is still in effect, Sawtooth National Forest officials announced this week.  read more

January 03, 2004 - KIROtv.com, WA - FAIRFIELD, Idaho -- The dean of the University of Washington graduate school and her husband were killed in an avalanche early today at the Soldier Mountain Ski resort at Fairfield, Idaho. The Camas County sheriff's office says the snowslide hit a cabin after 1 p.m. when there were seven family members inside. Two were able to dig out and go for help.  read more
