First ski area of season opens
November 29, 2007 - Lookout Pass ski area on the Idaho-Montana border opened this morning, kicking off the ski season in the Inland Northwest. But not enough snow has fallen at Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg to allow it to open Friday, as was tentatively planned.  read more

Skier dies after having heart attack on slopes
December 01, 2003 - IdahoStatesman.com, ID - KELLOGG ? A 42-year-old Rathdrum man collapsed and died Thanksgiving morning while skiing at Silver Mountain Ski Resort. The man, identified as Paul McGowan, reportedly was skiing along a beginner trail when he collapsed from an apparent heart attack.  read more
