First ski area of season opens
November 29, 2007 - Lookout Pass ski area on the Idaho-Montana border opened this morning, kicking off the ski season in the Inland Northwest. But not enough snow has fallen at Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg to allow it to open Friday, as was tentatively planned.

thanks to the recent turn in weather and continued snowfall. "The
runs that will be open will have good coverage," said Dave Bishop,

Mountain Corp., the Redmond, Ore.-based operator of Silver Mountain Ski
& Summer Resort, has bought the 1,500 acres of ski terrain on which
its resort near Kellogg, Idaho, is located. Separately,
the company plans to start work this spring on a five-story
condominium-and-retail building at the base of its gondola in Kellogg in
the first phase of what?s to be called Gondola Village.

dies after having heart attack on slopes
December 01, 2003 - IdahoStatesman.com, ID - KELLOGG ? A 42-year-old
Rathdrum man collapsed and died Thanksgiving morning while skiing at
Silver Mountain Ski Resort. The man, identified as Paul McGowan,
reportedly was skiing along a beginner trail when he collapsed from an
apparent heart attack.
