This week, I headed to the Idaho/Montana border to check out Lookout Pass, the resort with fresh tracks almost daily. November 30, 2007 - LOOKOUT PASS -- Hundreds of skiers and snowboarders flocked to the slopes of Lookout Pass Ski Area on opening day Thursday. Lookout Pass was the first of the three major ski areas in North Idaho to open the mountain for skiing this week.  read more

First ski area of season opens
November 29, 2007 - Lookout Pass ski area on the Idaho-Montana border opened this morning, kicking off the ski season in the Inland Northwest. But not enough snow has fallen at Silver Mountain Resort in Kellogg to allow it to open Friday, as was tentatively planned.  read more

November 16, 2005 - The Missoulian, MT - A series of early season snowstorms has put a smile on the face of ski mountain managers. Lookout Pass will operate on its regular schedule of Thursday through Monday, after a successful opening last weekend.  read more

Season opener
November 29, 2003 - The Missoulian, MT - Slopes busy right out of the gate. Sure, it's winter, but western Montana's ski season is off to a white-hot start, with most of the major areas open and busy. "It's just been an excellent early season for us, really pretty amazing," said Wyn Edholm at Lookout Pass, on the Montana-Idaho border. "We've already set a record and we have snow falling right now."  read more

Lookout Pass' slopes to open this weekend
November 14, 2003 - Seattle Times, WA - The Lookout Pass Ski Area in northern Idaho will be the first Northwest area to open to skiers and snowboarders. Starting this weekend, Lookout Pass on the border of Idaho and Montana will begin operation from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. After being asked how it feels to open first, Jim Schreiber, marketing director for Lookout Pass, said, "It is always a pleasure and it is not unusual for us to be the first, but not this early in the season."  read more
