Ready to Swoosh? Ski Resorts Close to Opening
November 13, 2006 - Between the real stuff and machine-made snow, a number of Tahoe area ski resorts hope to open in time for Thanksgiving, if not before. Alpine Meadow, Heavenly Ski Resort and Squaw Valley USA expect to open Friday, November 17. Northstar-at-Tahoe expects to be running on Saturday.

Intrawest Set to Close $160M, 515,000-SF Deal
August 17, 2004 - GlobeSt. com, NY - ORLANDO-Locally
based CNL Income Properties has contracted to buy 80% of Vancouver,
BC-based Intrawest Corp.'s estimated 515,000 sf of commercial space at
nine national ski resort villages for $160 million or about $17.8
million per resort. Intrawest will continue to manage and lease the
properties. The deal is expected to close by year end. One of the
properties, the 7,000-acre Whistler Creekside at Whistler Blackcomb 75
miles north of Vancouver, is the host venue for the 2010 Winter Olympic
Games. The other resorts are Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin Golf
and Beach Resort, Destin, FL; Village at Squaw Valley USA, Lake Tahoe,
CA; Village at Mammoth Mountain, Mammoth Lakes, CA; Village at Copper
Mountain, Copper, CO; MonteLago Village at Lake Las Vegas Resort;
Village at Blue Mountain, Ontario, Canada; Village at Snowshoe Mountain,
Snowshoe, WV; and Village at Stratton, Stratton, VT.

ski resorts question environmental ratings
December 05, 2003 - Reno Gazette Journal, NV - Alpine Meadows scored the best
and Squaw Valley USA the worst among ski resorts in the Sierra in a
watchdog's group's annual ratings of environmental records. But local
resort officials said the grades issued by the Ski Area Citizens
Coalition are poor assessments of the industry's environmental efforts
and say the group is biased against expansion and snowmaking. The report
cards released this week are designed to help skiers and snowboarders
assess the environmental impacts and practices of different resorts
throughout the West.

November 13, 2003 - Reno Gazette Journal, NV - In the wake of two early
winter storms, Squaw Valley USA said Wednesday it plans to open Saturday
and Sunday for an early bird special ?Sneak Peak Weekend.? The Cable
Car, Shirley Lake Express, and the beginner bowl accessed by Bailey's
Beach, Belmont and Links lifts will provide access to beginner and
intermediate terrain on the upper mountain.

October 29, 2003 - Unstrung - OLYMPIC VALLEY, Calif. -- There's no longer a need
for avid skiers and snowboarders to call in sick to catch a ?powder
day?, nor any reason for them not to extend a vacation a day longer.
Exwire, a wireless Internet service provider catering to underserved
markets, has installed the first wireless network of its kind at a US
ski resort, at Squaw Valley USA. This new network will enable visitors
to access the Internet from wireless (WiFi-enabled) laptops, PDAs and
cell phones -- from the top to the bottom of the resort.

October 16, 2003 - Snowboarding - Exwire, a Lake Tahoe-based wireless Internet
service provider, has installed the most expansive wireless network of
its kind at a US ski resort at Squaw Valley USA. This new network will
enable visitors to access the Internet from wireless (WiFi-enabled)
laptops, PDAs and cell phones throughout the majority of the resort's
base area, and eventually all around the mountain.
