These days, the two closest snow resorts to Tracy Dodge Ridge and Bear Valley are trying to make it as easy as possible for valley residents to enjoy a day on the slopes.

Destroys Sierra Ski Resort Lodge
January 07, 2005 - KCRA-TV, CA - PINECREST, Calif. -- Fast-moving flames
destroyed an old lodge at a Sierra ski resort Thursday. The fire broke
out around 7 a.m. at Dodge Ridge and destroyed one of the ski area's
original buildings. The lodge was built in the 1950s.

November 01, 2004 - San Luis Obispo Tribune, CA - Talk about record starts to the
ski season! October's heavy snowfall allowed many Sierra Nevada resorts
to welcome skiers early, at least for weekends. Kirkwood, Boreal and
Mammoth got things rolling. Sierra-at-Tahoe opened Friday. And Squaw
Valley, Sugar Bowl, Alpine Meadows and Dodge Ridge opened this weekend
-- the earliest ever for those resorts. With some meteorologists
predicting another snow-rich El Ni?o winter, can the others be far
behind?

Ignoring
ski boundaries can be dangerous, costly
January 16, 2004 - Lodi News-Sentinel, CA - Three recent search-and-rescue
operations at Dodge Ridge, the Central Valley's closest ski resort,
involved people who skied or snowboarded into an out-of-bounds area. One
of those actions included a West High School graduate who was
hospitalized for frostbite.

locate four missing snowboarders
January 13, 2004 - Contra Costa Times, CA - PINECREST
- Four missing snowboarders were located Monday morning,
officials said. The four male teenagers had apparently skied out of
bounds on snowboards Sunday at the Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. They were
reported missing about 5 p.m. by their parents, said Tuolumne County
Sheriff's Sgt. Roger Dittberner.

areas set to open
December 12, 2003 - Union Democrat, CA - With the coming of snow, area ski
resorts are ready to go: Bear Valley and Badger Pass will open tomorrow
and Dodge Ridge will kick off its season Saturday. But, with this
morning's snow level dipping well below 3,000 feet, foothills commuters
got more than they wanted. The snow level dropped to the Tuolumne
Junction area, and a few flakes fell as low as downtown Sonora.
