June 26, 2004 - StarPhoenix, Canada - VANCOUVER (CP) -- The longest race in Olympic history finally ended Friday when Canadian cross-country skier Beckie Scott received the gold medal for the five-kilometre pursuit race at the 2002 Winter Games. Scott raised the medal in her right hand and waved to the over 500 people gathered under overcast skies outside the Vancouver Art Gallery. She flashed a broad smile and choked back tears as the crowd sang O Canada while a Mountie hoisted a Maple Leaf up a flag pole.  read more

Arizona Snowbowl prepares to open
January 07, 2004 - Phoenix Business Journal, AZ - The Arizona Snowbowl in Flagstaff plans to open lifts to skiers and snowboarders on Friday, now that there is enough natural snow. Snowbowl has struggled in recent years with the ongoing drought conditions, and as a result the ski resort continues to seek permission from the U.S. Forest Service to install snowmaking equipment.  read more

December 25, 2003 - Phoenix Business Journal, AZ - People taking off work over the holiday to do some skiing will have to go somewhere else besides Flagstaff. Arizona Snowbowl officials say there is not enough natural snow to even start adding artificial snow to open the slopes this Christmas.
