August 27, 2004 - Whistler Question, Canada - Whistler Bike Park official welcomes move to ?expand the industry? It appears the Whistler Mountain Bike Park will have competition from Cypress Mountain next summer. Officials at the West Vancouver ski hill recently announced plans to develop a lift-assisted mountain bike park on the north face of Black Mountain, disrupting Whistler?s long-time bike park monopoly.  read more

The helmet debate rages
January 23, 2004 - Whistler Question, Canada - A Cypress Mountain ski patroller was shocked a couple of years ago to discover there were no safety standards for snow-sport helmets after witnessing a child, wearing a helmet, be knocked unconscious. As a result, the former professional freestyle skier, Richard Kinar, is working with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) to establish minimum safety standards for snow-sports helmets.  read more

Young skier severely injured
December 01, 2003 - Edmonton Sun, Canada - VANCOUVER --  A 10-year-old girl was airlifted to hospital with multiple injuries yesterday after slipping off a chairlift at Cypress Mountain and falling 20 metres. The girl fell off the lift shortly after boarding it with her father, West Vancouver police Cpl. Lyle Kuemper said.  read more
