January 08, 2008 - The body of a man found buried by an avalanche in Kelowna, B.C. has been identified as an Australian working at a B.C. resort. Crews found the body of Leigh Barnier, 21, late Monday afternoon at the Big White Ski Resort after a searching for the missing snowboarder for more than a day.  read more

Backcountry death toll rises
February 04, 2004 - Calgary Sun, Canada - The death toll in B.C.'s backcountry continues to climb after two more people died in winter sports-related tragedies. A Kelowna snowboarder -- who wasn't reported missing for four days -- was found dead Monday in an out-of-bounds ski area near the Big White ski resort. Christopher Cayford, 26, was last seen snowboarding Jan. 27, but wasn't reported missing until Sunday.  read more
