stranded on COP lift
January 10, 2004 - CBC Calgary, Canada - Calgary - About 36 skiers were
stranded for more than 90 minutes Thursday night when a chair lift at
Canada Olympic Park broke down. Many on the quad lift were members of a
youth ski team. After spending about 20 minutes trying to fix the lift,
COP staff used a rope system to lower the would-be skiers down.

thieves get caught at COP
December 30, 2003 - Calgary Sun, Canada - Even a getaway like a ski hill can
be home to folks looking for new gear at a 10-finger discount. While
it's each skier's responsibility to ensure his gear is locked in a safe
place, some ski hills, particularly Canada Olympic Park, offer a
theft-prevention program. Since the program's inception three years ago,
its operators have learned stolen equipment most often resurfaces at
consignment and used-equipment outlets.

Greene
riders get ski league
November 18, 2003 - Calgary Sun, Canada - There are a plethora of programs
available at Canada Olympic Park to get families primed for the ski
season, including a new Nancy Greene ski league for youngsters ages six
to 10. Offered for the first time at COP, the Nancy Greene program will
include 12 days of instruction and racing throughout the winter.
COP had to form its own ski club in order to offer the program, which is
sanctioned by Alberta Alpine.

enjoyed a day on the slopes at Canada Olympic Park yesterday, as Alpine
Canada introduced its 2003-04 World Cup team. Three weeks prior to the
Winterstart World Cup, the 35 members of this year's squad are primed
for the upcoming season.

have all of the white stuff
November 09, 2003 - Calgary Sun, Canada - Calgary downhill enthusiasts are
revelling in an early and pristine ski season characterized by some of
the best conditions ever. With more than one metre of snow blanketing
Canada Olympic Park, current conditions are better than they were all
last year, said COP spokesman Chris Dornan.
"We're enjoying the best early season conditions ever and we're
really excited," he said.

New
medal on way for Scott
October 18, 2003 - Calgary Sun, Canada - An official Olympic medal
presentation ceremony is set to happen this coming Tuesday morning at
Canada Olympic Park in honour of cross-country ski star Beckie Scott.
The public is more than welcome to attend this incredible event. Scott
won the bronze medal in the 5k cross-country competition at the 2002
Winter Olympics. Scott will be awarded the upgraded silver or gold medal
at Tuesday's official ceremony.
